A customized home golf simulator
When Simon Whitten swapped the city for the suburbs, he sought to rekindle his love of golf with a customized home simulator setup. Now the whole family enjoys practicing and gaming in their indoor golf space.
REVIVING THE PASSION FOR GOLF
Upon leaving the hustle and bustle of Boston, Simon Whitten sought to rekindle his love of golf. A 14 handicapper as a youngster, he lost touch with the game in pursuit of his career. Simon didn't pick up golf again until turning 40 and found that it was much more difficult to break 90. Suddenly, in the wake of the pandemic, he was working from home more and there was an opportunity to play more golf.
“I thought if I put a simulator in the house, it was a great opportunity for me to hit balls whenever I wanted and try and regain my love for golf.”

From stables to virtual courses
Simon realized that the horse barn had massive potential for being an enjoyable space for family and friends. He looked into possibilities and specs in regards to installing a home golf simulator and quickly concluded that he needed to reach out to Trackman. Simon wanted a best-in-class system that was responsive, accurate and fun. It was important to him that it was professionally installed, as he didn't want to deal with random issues every time he used the system.
“Trackman was an easy choice for me because I was familiar with it from the pro tours, TV broadcasts and my local club.”

INDOOR GOLF SIMULATORS BY TRACKMAN
Simon designed the install around the newly-released Trackman iO. He likes the sleek feel of the iO being mounted on the ceiling and that it doesn’t require stickers like some other simulator solutions do. And size does matter! Although not quite having the 10-foot ceiling height, the horse stalls had the space required for the simulator install.
“In the end, I really liked the way that IO was installed on the ceiling as it seemed a much cleaner install and it wasn't at risk of being kicked over.”

Fun for the Family
Simon appreciates how the Trackman iO home simulator setup affords him more time for family and friends. The Whittens enjoy the space to host everything from kids events to whiskey nights – even during the frigid Massachusetts winter months.
A GATEWAY TO THE GAME
Simon particularly loves seeing his six-year-old son Jake taking a strong interest in golf. Jake brings his friends over to play on the simulator, and they enjoy playing all the games on the iO. The space has turned into a focal point for socializing with family and guests.
“Jake loves playing Scrapyard, and at the moment I'm really enjoying playing Streets of Neon with him. It's the nicest thing to come down here and see him develop a love for golf.”

more
consistent
golf
Despite only having the home simulator setup for six months, Simon has found that his golf has improved on par with his social life. He’s maintained a consistent swing during the off-season and his golf game has improved. He enjoys being able to play his local course, Pinebrook Country Club, on Trackman and is blown away at how realistic it looks on screen.
“I've found that golf is now being incorporated more into my life, which has been very deliberate. The space is getting increasingly popular with the family.”
