The CATAWISSA and the COMET were among the first Locomotives built by Edward Bury and Co. in Liverpool, England in 1832. Both had inside- connected cylinders and drivers. These little locomotives were exported to the U.S.A. and used in freight and passenger service on the Little Schuylkill Railroad in Pennsylvania.

The Little Schuylkill was chiefly handled by horses, although the light locomotives CATAWISSA and Comet continued to use the wooden rails with strap iron tops to travel short distances. The COMET was reportedly destroyed at an early date but the CATAWISSA continued to operate on the LSRR until around 1865.
This engine was of such early date that no working drawings from the builders survived. The construction date predates the advent of photography so no builders photographers ever existed; industrial photography of this nature began in Manchester, England around the mid to ate 1850.
The Choo Choo Stop, a builder of high quality, precision brass trains spent approximately one year in research and development on this model to assure that it would be as accurate as possible. Our extensive research worldwide showed no evidence that the CATAWISSA ever had a tender. Some of these early locomotives kept their wood and water keg in the cab. Our extensive testing indicates that this running collectors model will be around for a long come, as only quality components were used. It appears that this is the only model of the CATAWISSA that has ever been produced.
NOTE: The CATAWISSA needs minimum 5 volts for operating power. To assure smooth operation, always clean rails and wheels. All units are run and pre-tested at the factory.
This fine brass collectors edition is highly detailed and hand-crafted in Korea
using a premium SWISS Faulhaber can motor. All models have all-wheel drive and 4-wheel
pickup, a working headlight, full cab with seats, controls and original boiler, and
include a rear mounting plate for a Kadee #5 coupler. The extremely high wheels make this
inside drive model very spectacular for HO gauge.
Every effort has been made to achieve top quality and smooth,
quiet precision performance in this benchmark model. This is a running collectors
model of very high quality; Only 200 units were produced and each locomotive is numbered
in a series with a brass builders plate on the bottom
This rare collectors model is available now in unpainted brass and orders being are being taken on a first come first served basis. A limited number of units will be sold at our lowest price ever and we expect a quick sellout, so get your order in now.
